Monitoring 10/02/2014 (Week 4)

Monitoring 10/02/2014 (Week 4)

This week hasn't gone as I would of liked it to and also how I planned it to. This is because I hadn't book my photoshoots early as I should of which meant that I couldn't get the slots I would of liked of been able to get. I have booked one of my photoshoots for today (thursday) this is the photoshoot for my Front Cover and my Apple Products double page spread. Because I couldn't get my photoshoots done this week it meant that I had time to do other work that needed to be done. Also because I wont be getting both my photoshoots done this week it means that I will have to make up extra time next week so that I can get my second shoot done as well as choose my images, edit them and get them onto my front cover/ DPS'.

This week I have been working on my contents page, in the first lesson of the week I looked at similar magazines to mine so I could get a brief idea of what other magazines do this also help give me an idea of what I wanted mine to look like. I then began setting up the page layout, making sure the page layout had all the right measurements for inside/outside gutters etc also making sure i had the right amount od columns. I also made the layout for where I was going to put the images on my contents page, I had to make sure that all my boxes for my images were the same size and that they all had the correct space so that I could fit all my images onto my page.

In the second lesson of the week I then went to put all the text onto my front cover I put them in the right fonts, size, and colour as well as placing them where I wanted them to go. In this lesson I looked at images and choose ones which I thought were suitable for my contents page after this I then placed these images onto my front cover making sure that none of them were stretched and they were all clear.

In the third lesson of week I spent time editing my contents page this included putting text and text boxes over my images so that they matched other text on my contents page I also had to make sure all the colours matched the text. This was time consuming as I had to write down the CMYK codes for each colour and then add them to my swatches so that I could put colour in my text boxes. This is what my contents page looks like after a week of working on it:

Monitoring 03/02/2014 (Week 3)

Monitoring 03/02/2014 (Week 3)

In the first lesson of the week I carried on the sub-editing of my Apple Products double page spread, on this double page spread I have completed the layout. I have chose the font and a text size I want my article to be, I have also added a boarder to this double page spread and other features to bring more to the page. Underneath is what I have done so far on my Apple Products DPS:

In the second lesson of this week I carried on with the sub-editing of my Grand Theft Auto double page spread. On this double page spread I created a header on photoshop my headline for this double page spread is 'Grand Theft Auto' I decided to create this in photoshop as I am more familiar with this program so I thought I would get better results creating it on this program I choose a font which was called 'Pricedown' I choose this font as it is the same font used for the name of the game on things such as the case of the game and posters I also added affects such as the inner shadow as well as this I changed the colour of it to a dark blue. On this double page spread I also added a kicker to give more of an incite to what my article is about. Again on this double page spread I have chosen the font and the text size I want my article to be something else I have added to this double page spread is a breakout box about Rockstar the makes of the game what my article is about this will also make my double page spread more interesting for my audience. I found this double page spread more time consuming and this ran into my third lesson of the week as I didn't complete as much as I would of liked to last week.

In the third lesson of the week I set up the page layout of my front cover I added the name of my magazine to my front cover in the correct font and size, I had already chosen which font I was going to use for this, this saved me time. On my front cover I also added sell lines in for my articles I had to do some quick research for fonts I was going to use for my sell lines this took some extra time and meant that I had to spend my free catching up on the sub editing of my front cover. Also I have choose which colours I want my sell lines to be and changed this on my front cover.
